WORKINGDOGS AND DOGSPORT
Workingdogs And Dogsport is an international website with a Belgian base but with an open view of the world. Independently, the website looks at the fascinating world of dogsport and working dogs. We cover every sport, discipline, service and job regardless of breed, but with a special focus on the Belgian Shepherd, in particular the Malinois.
We welcome every professional and sports enthusiast, handler, trainer, decoy, or competitor involved in this fascinating and unique world of working and training a dog. Our attention goes to both dogs and humans. The purpose of the website is to unite lovers of working and sport dogs through articles, interviews, podcasts, events, etc. We look forward to welcoming and uniting competitors, handlers, police officers, breeders, decoys, trainers, experts, behavioral experts and any other dog lover through this platform.
AXEL
The driving force behind this website is Axel Van der Borght. Axel is a police officer and a very passionate dog trainer and decoy. When he first trained a puppy more than 20 years ago, his hunger was enormous to learn and know more. Since then, his search for the tricks of the trade has not stopped. That search brought him into the world of police dogs, but especially dogsports such as Belgian ring, mondioring and IGP. Apparently they are two separate worlds, but not for Axel. There are so many more points of contact than differences and together these worlds only make each other stronger. The more we learn, the more we realize that we actually know very little. Because we must continue to learn from each other, interviews, articles, events and podcasts are of great importance. We have no secrets from each other. The opposite is true.
Axel has a lot of experience as a trainer and decoy, but also as an author of articles and interviews. Thanks to this website he can now express himself completely.
IN MEMORIAM
With this website, Axel wants to keep the memory of his very good friend Tom Perdaen warm. Tom and Axel became best friends because of their love for dogs and dogsports. Tom, a clear practitioner of various martial arts, had great respect for military personnel, police and other emergency services. He worked as a doorman and security guard, but preferred to work as a private security guard with his dogs.
During our training, he was the perfect person to act as a decoy to carry out the most crazy and daring scenarios. Together we have had the craziest adventures, but we also supported each other in difficult times. Tom passed away far too soon and will be sorely missed. We're sure he would have been very proud.
Thanks Tom for being our friend! Rest in peace.
